Virginia Senate Candidates Differ on Tort Reform

Posted on Nov 02, 2006

Senator George Allen (R) and his opponent Jim Webb (D) have taken opposing stands on tort reform. In an interview with the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors, Senator Allen supported tort reform legislation, and was quoted as saying "...Frivolous lawsuits have a negative effect on our economy." In contrast, Democratic Candidate Jim Webb came out firmly against tort reform, citing a series of statistics that show that tort filings have been on the decline, and that tort reform would help big business at the expense of the average citizen.
